U.S. On Track For Record Mass Killings

2023 is on pace in the United States for a year of record mass killings, averaging one per week so far. Mass killings are defined as incidents with four or more casualties, not including the shooter.  Incidents have occurred across the country at a variety of locations, including malls, schools and parties. Despite this, there has been little to no action taken by legislatures to curb gun violence. Texas actually loosened gun laws, even after several mass shootings; it leads the nation with 1 million registered guns. President Biden has called on Republicans to support his desire for increased gun restrictions.
