Apple Opens Store In India

Looking to expand sales, Apple has opened its first store in India in Mumbai, then the capital city of Delhi. Apple will be ramping up manufacturing in the country. While it has been in the country for 25 years, it has never fully taken advantage of its potential, with its extremely large population. CEO Tim Cook has long believed in the potential of the country and is bullish on Apple’s prospects. Apple says that the store is very “green” with no use of fossil fuels and a dedicated system of solar energy to provide power. Apple has very little market share in the country and sales are dominated by Samsung and Chinese manufacturers, targeting the mid- to lower- priced product demand, but higher priced models have been increasing in sales.
