Selena Gomez Responds to Body Shamers

At the 2023 Golden Globes, singer and actress Selena Gomez responded to body shamers that made comments about her body. In her post with younger sister Gracie Teefy, she said, “I’m a little bit big right now because I enjoyed myself during the holidays. I mean… right?” and her sister agreed with her.

According to CNN, many of Selena’s followers defended the singer, saying she “shouldn’t have to explain why her body looks how it does,” and that “She’s perfect and doesn’t need to give explanations.” This is not the first time Selena has been criticized for her body, as comments were frequently made back in 2022 about her “gaining weight” and “being larger.” A year ago, Selena responded to haters saying “I am perfect the way I am. Moral of the story? Byyyye!,” and continues to respond in a positive way today.
