Hall of Famer Franco Harris Passes at 72
Franco Harris, a Pro Football Hall of Famer and former Pittsburgh Steelers running back, passed away at the age of 72 on Tuesday. According to The Guardian, Harris’s son Dok Harris, said “his father died overnight,” and no cause of death was given.
Harris was known for creating the “Immaculate Reception,” which is considered the “most famous play in NFL history.” His unfortunate death came only 2 days before the 50th anniversary of the famous play that transformed the Steelers in the 70’s. Many have sent out their condolences to Harris’s family, one being president Joe Biden. Biden posted a White House official statement in regards to the NFL legend’s death, speaking about their 50 year long friendship and compassion for one another. Biden said Franco was “close to his heart,” and sent love and prayers to his family.
