Harvey Weinstein Found Guilty in Rape Trial

On Monday, Harvey Weinstein was found guilty in a sexual assault trial. According to CNN, Weinstein was found guilty of “three of seven charges against him,” in his second sexual assault trial.

The jury reportedly “acquitted Weinstein of one count of sexual battery,” which was from when he assaulted a massage therapist in a hotel room in 2010. Prosecutors also said that Weinstein used his “Hollywood influence” as an advantage to “lure women into private meetings and assault them”. Harvey has been accused of multiple accounts of rape, including one of “filmmaker and first partner to California Gov. Gavin Newsom,” Jennifer Siebel Newsom. Weinstein has pleaded not guilty to all 7 charges brought against him, and faces a possible 24 years in prison on top of the 23 years he will be serving from a 2020 sentence.
