Amber Heard v Johnny Depp Defamation Case Settled

On Monday, Amber Heard announced that the defamation case between her and her ex husband Johnny Depp has been settled. According to NBC News, Heard posted to her Instagram account announcing the case settlement, saying the decision to settle was “very difficult,” and required a “great deal of deliberation.”

In her post, Heard made it clear to followers that she was unhappy with the settlement, saying it was “last resort,” and “an opportunity to emancipate myself from something I attempted to leave over six years ago and on terms I can agree to.” Heard claims she has no “faith in the US legal justice system,” but was the one to start the legal battle with Depp. As part of the settlement, Depp’s attorneys made a statement saying that Heard is “paying Depp $1 million as part of the settlement,” and that they are “pleased to formally close the door on this painful chapter for Mr. Depp, who made clear throughout this process his intent to bring the truth to light.”
