Brittney Griner Speaks Out

WNBA star Brittney Griner speaks out for the first time since her release from Russian prison on December 8. Griner was arrested in February in a Moscow airport for transporting illegal cannabis induced oils through security. She was charged and sentenced to 9 years in prison before being involved in a prisoner swap that got her safely back to America after 10 months in the foreign country.

Griner thanked her friends and family for their continuous support, and credits her faith for her survival overseas. “I dug deep to keep my faith and it was the love from so many of you that helped keep me going. From the bottom of my heart, thank you to everyone for your help.” President Biden, Vice President Harris, and Griner’s wife Cherelle Griner all awaited her arrival in San Antonio.
