King Charles 3 Releases First Christmas Card of his Reign

On Sunday, the Royal Family released the 2022 Christmas card. The card features King Charles III alongside his wife Camilla (Queen Consort), and is the first card of King Charles III’s reign.

According to CBS News, the card read, “Wishing you a very Happy Christmas and New Year,” and featured a photo of the King with his wife at the Braemar Games in September. The card’s picture was taken 5 days before Queen Elizabther II’s death, by royal photographer Samir Hussein. It is well known around the world that Christmas is an important holiday to the Royal Family, as a Christmas card is sent by them every year. CBS reported that during Queen Elizabeth’s 70 years of reign, she sent “about 750 Christmas cards every year to family, friends and members of the royal household, as well as some British officials.” Many are looking forward to seeing if the new King continues in his mothers footsteps by having an annual Christmas day broadcast, where on it, the Queen would “reflect on what Christmas meant to the royal family and their listeners.” The Christmas broadcast has been “delivered every year since 1932,” and will most likely be delivered by King Charles III this year on Christmas day.
