Ukraine Drone Attacks Air Base in Russia

Ukrainian drones have hit Russian land the past two days, which could be a sign of Ukraine’s newfound boldness in the war. A blast on a Kursk airbase early Tuesday morning is the second consecutive destructive drone attack from their neighboring country. The drone attack on Monday hit the Engels air base.

Engels air base housed a bombing fleet of multiple tu-160 and tu-95 planes, which have been used on bombing missions against Ukraine. Russia’s defense ministry has blamed Kyiv for these attacks although responsibility has not yet been claimed. Russian forces disclosed that three “maintenance personnel” died and two planes were damaged in the Engels attack. Ukraine has not yet shown any signs of surrender, signaling this may just be the start of the war.
