China Plans to Ease Covid Policy Amid Protests
China has decided to ease up on their “Zero Covid” policy amid the nationwide protests they have been experiencing. This “Zero Covid” policy began three years ago when the Covid 19 outbreak began in China. Citizens have been protesting for their nationwide rights back and for the ceasing of closures throughout the cities.
Vice Premier Sun Chunlan was in a panel discussion on Thursday speaking about this current issue in her country. Sun is typically the spokesperson for all things Covid related, and has disclosed that the country is facing a “new reality” as the number of cases dies down at a steady level. It is expected for this policy to be completely diminished by the first half of 2023.
