Biden Turns to Congress to Prevent Rail Strike

With the impending nationwide rail strike coming up, President Joe Biden is urging Congress to devise an agreement that the railroad workers and operators will be happy with. A meeting was held with President Biden, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell.

The House is expected to vote on Wednesday, however it will need 60 votes in the Senate to proceed as a vote. Republican Senator Marco Rubio does not approve of this rushed transaction from the government for the union leaders. Rubio believes the deal being proposed will not provide the rail workers with what they need and deserve, and has already stated he will not be voting in favor of this deal. A majority of unions have already approved of the deal, but the four have currently voted against it, including the largest union in the country.
