Thanksgiving Day Football Takeaways
In week 12 of the 2022 NFL season, around 3 games were played on Thanksgiving day. Kevin Patra, a writer for the NFL, posted his Thanksgiving day NFL takeaways.
According to Patra, his takeaways included “Justin Jefferson torches Patriots’ previously stingy D,” “Patriots waste Mac Jones’ best day as offense fizzles,” and “special teams turns the tide.” Most of his takeaways were based on the Minnesota Vikings vs. New England Patriots game, where the Vikings won 33-26. Patra concluded overall in his takeaways that the Patriots offense played well in the first half, but did not take advantage of their quarterback Mac Jones’ best game in the second half. Patra said “the second-year QB threw gorgeous balls early, throwing a career-high 382 yards with two touchdowns for a season-best 119.8 passer rating.” New England “struggled in the red zone (0-for-3), and puttered in the fourth quarter with two three-and-outs. Late in the game, the stretch throws and gashes over the middle disappeared, and Jones took two bad sacks to kill a chance at a comeback.” Minnesota played a strong game throughout the entirety of both halves, and used the Pats struggles as an advantage to their own game plays.
