Todd and Julie Chrisley Sentenced

On Monday, reality stars Todd and Julie Chrisley were sentenced to 19 years in prison combined in federal court. According to CNN, the “Chrisley Knows Best” stars were found “guilty in June of conspiracy to defraud banks out of more than $30 million in fraudulent loans,” as well as “found guilty of several tax crimes, including attempting to defraud the Internal Revenue Service.”

On Monday afternoon, Judge Eleanor L. Ross sentenced Todd Chrisley to 12 years in prison, with 3 years supervised release. His wife Julie was sentenced to 7 years in prison, also with 3 years of supervised release. The Department of Justice released a press statement saying evidence showed the Chrisleys were “able to obtain loans through false bank statements, audit reports and financial statements,” and that they “used the money to buy luxury cars, designer clothes, real estate and travel.” The Chrisley’s have not yet made a direct statement on their sentencing or the case, but their attorney gave a statement to CNN saying “Yesterday was a difficult day for the Chrisley family. But Todd and Julie are people of faith, and that faith gives them strength as they appeal their convictions.”
