Saudi Arabia Stuns Crowds Taking the Win Over Argentina

At the 2022 FIFA World Cup on Tuesday night, Saudi Arabia stunned the crowd by performing one of the biggest upsets against Argentina in World Cup History. The second lowest ranked team in the World Cup took the win over Argentina 2-1.

According to Sportsnet, when Lionel Messi was asked how he felt after the loss his team faced, he said, “The truth? Dead. It’s a very hard blow because we did not expect to start in this way.” Sportsnet reported that in the first half of the match, Messi gave Argentina the 1-0 lead, but in the second half, goals scored early by “Saleh Alshehri and Salem Aldawsari in a five-minute span” caused the lead to diminish. After the final whistle, Saudi Arabia left fans, as well as Argentinian players, in utter shock when they won. “Green-clad fans” hopped the rails, flooding the field as Messi and his team made their way into the tunnel.
