48,000 UC Graduate Students Go on Strike

Nearly 50,000 workers in the University of California system have gone on strike demanding better compensation for their work. This strike has already affected 11 UC campuses, including UC Davis. Students are starting to worry about the effects this will have on their education.

Many students agree with the teachers and teacher assistants and what they’re fighting for. The education workers are struggling to make rent and pay their bills, and are fighting for compensation that allows them to not have to worry about those things every month. Freshman Riya Klair thinks the staff is fighting “for a good cause” and hopes the staff gets what they deserve soon, for both their benefit and the students’.
