DC Attorney General Files Lawsuit Against Washington Commanders
On Thursday, DC Attorney General Karl A. Racine (D) filed a lawsuit against the Washington Commanders. According to the Washington Post, the lawsuit was filed “regarding refundable deposits that allegedly were not returned by the team to season ticket holders from the District.”
Racine’s office and team announced that they are on their second filing in “8 days” against the team, and are suing the “Pro Football Inc., which owns the Commanders.” Racine alleges that the Commanders conducted an illegal scheme to “cheat District ticket holders out of their deposits for season tickets and use the money for its own purposes.” In a statement made by Racine, he said that a portion of the money has been returned to ticket holders, but hundreds of thousands of dollars were “converted into revenue used for the Commander’s own purposes.” The lawsuit is still ongoing.
