Russia Says its Withdrawing from Kherson
Russia has decided to withdraw from Kherson in Southern Ukraine, but analysts think this is a dangerous decision for both sides. Russian troops are pulling back from the Dnieper River, which bisects the Kherson region. The decision was made by Russian leaders on the same day that Ukraine announced that their forces had already moved 4 miles into the region.
Analysts have described Russia’s strategy as delaying Ukrainian forces with their withdrawal, rather than halting Ukraine’s offensive strategy entirely. The withdrawal of Russia is likely going to take time, but the probability that they destroyed bridges and set mines to slow the Ukrainians from catching them is great. Both parties will face dangers during these movements through the Dnieper.
