Cornell Suspends Fraternity Parties Following Sexual Assault Allegations
Cornell University has suspended fraternity parties and social events after a student reported to campus police about a sexual assault, along with four other students reporting of drugged drinks. The events all happened at off campus houses associated with the fraternities.
The Interfraternity Council made the decision to temporarily suspend all social events starting Sunday after an emergency meeting. Cornell President Martha E. Pollack and Vice President of student and campus life Ryan Lombardi added “Fraternity leaders will take this time to implement stronger health and safety plans. No IFC-affiliated social events will resume until student leaders and Cornell staff are confident activities can take place responsibly and safely.”
