Selena Gomez Releases On My Mind and Me Documentary
On Friday, Selena Gomez released her documentary, “On My Mind and Me” through Apple TV. The documentary was filmed over the span of 6 years, and was directed by Alek Keshishian. According to Billboard, the documentary “gives viewers an intimate look into her years in the limelight, reaching superstardom and “an unexpected turn that pulls her into darkness.”
According to USA Today, Gomez said the original plan for the documentary was to cover her 2016 Revival tour, which ended up being canceled due to “mental and physical health crises.” Gomez said “We soon realized that there was much more going on than just the tour that I eventually ended up canceling. Alek Keshishian came into my life in these moments that were beautiful, complicated and tragic. And I felt comfortable sharing what I was walking through.” After the premiere of the film, Gomez said her main reason for releasing the documentary was to help create “a chain reaction of people saying, ‘Hey, I want to say something about my mental health. I want to talk about it and seek help.”
