Kyrie Irving and the Brooklyn Nets to Each Donate to Anti-Hate Organizations

On Thursday, Brooklyn Nets star Kyrie Irving made a statement apologizing for a tweet he made. Irving tweeted a link to 2018 movie “Hebrews to Negroes: Wake Up Black America,” which has been announced as anti-sematic from many civil rights groups. According to CNN, Irving posted to his Instagram apologizing after the Nets announced his five game suspension without pay.

Later in the week, Irving, as well as the Nets, announced that they would both “donate $500,000 towards anti-hate organizations.” The CEO of the Anti-Defamation League Jonathan Greenblatt, responded to the announcement of their donation on Twitter, saying that “in good conscience we can not accept” their donations. Greenblatt wrote that Irving’s “suspension is well-deserved. We were optimistic but after watching the debacle of a press conference, it’s clear that Kyrie feels no accountability for his actions.”
