Family of an American Killed in Ukraine

The body of a man fighting in Ukraine is being held in the country for a potential war crime investigation, despite his family’s wishes for his body to be sent back to the United States. Victim Joshua Jones, 24, was killed in August while fighting with the Ukrainian Foreign Legion.

This is not the first setback Jones’ family has faced in the retrieval of his body. Initially after his death, Russia held his body captive in the Donbas region. Ukraine was finally able to negotiate for his body last week, but there is still no relief for his family. Jones’ mother Misty Gossett was in the middle of planning his funeral when they received the news of the war crime investigation. Gossett’s main goal is to finally be able to put her son to rest.
