Powerball Lottery Jackpot Reaches $1 Billion

On Monday, no winners were drawn for the Powerball Lottery Jackpot, resulting in the jackpot amount to now reach around $1.2 billion. Winning numbers that were drawn on Monday were white balls 13, 19, 36, 39, 59 and red power ball 13. According to NPR, the $1.2 billion jackpot will be the “4th-largest in U.S. history, where the biggest prize was a $1.586 billion Powerball jackpot won by three ticket-holders in 2016.”

On Wednesday night, the next drawing will take place. Although the prize drawn on Wednesday is $1.2 billion, it is reported that “winners will receive their winnings through an annuity paid over 29 years.” Winners commonly “opt for cash,” leaving the drawing on Wednesday night to be estimated at around $596 million. NPR reported that there has not been anyone who has “hit all 6 numbers since August 3rd, showing that the odds of winning are extremely small.”
