Congressman’s Niece Among Those Killed in Seoul Halloween Stampede

Ohio congressman Rep. Brad Wenstrup has announced that his niece was one of many killed in the Halloween stampede in Seoul, South Korea. Anne Marie Gieske was a nursing student from the University of Kentucky studying abroad in South Korea when the stampede took her life. Another college student from Kennesaw, Georgia tragically lost his life that night.

There have been a confirmed 150 deaths in this surge, and over 180 more injured people. Those located in the middle of the crowd during the surge faced the brunt of the pressure. President Biden shares his condolences and expresses the importance of the United States’ relationship with South Korea during this devastating time.
