Rishi Sunak Appointed as British New Prime Minister

Rishi Sunak has just been appointed as the newest Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. This makes him both the youngest appointed Prime Minister at age 42, but also the first person of color appointed to this position.

Sunak is replacing former PM Liz Truss, who only lasted 44 days in power before resigning. Truss claimed to need more stability in Britain’s turbulent times. Sunak is expected to turn around the British economy and get the citizens out of the downward slope they have entered. “We now need stability and unity, and I will make it my utmost priority to bring our party and our country together,” he said.
