Miami Judge Dismisses Voter Fraud Case
A Miami judge has dismissed one of 19 voter fraud cases brought to court by Florida’s Governor Ron DeSantis. The case was against Robert Lee Wood, a Miami man who registered to vote and voted when he didn’t know he was ineligible to vote. Wood was convicted in 1991, thus making him ineligible to vote.
Wood registered to vote in 2020 and was sent a voter registration card in the mail. Wood was charged with two third degree felonies, which both could have resulted in 5 year sentences along with a $5,000 fine. Judge Milton Hirsch dismissed the case on Friday. Hirsch said the prosecutors have overstepped their authority in this case.
