Selma Blair Leaves Dancing with the Stars Due to MS
Earlier this week, actress Selma Blair announced that she will be leaving Dancing with the Stars due to her struggles with Multiple Sclerosis. According to NPR, on the show Selma Blair told the audience and fans that she “can’t go in with the competition,” and that she “pushed as far as I could. With a chronic illness, you do have special considerations and my body is definitely taking a hit. It’s way too much for the safety of my bones.”
Selma was diagnosed with MS in 2018, and was not shy to share with fans that she had been struggling with the pain from it. In a statement, she said she was relieved to have gotten the diagnosis, and that her “recovery as a person” has begun. When dealing with Dancing with the Stars, Selma was advised by her doctor to give her body a break from strenuous activities that cause her pain. Because of her MS, Selma felt she could not continue on in the show, but said farewell and wished all of her costars goodluck with the rest of the season.
