Biden Says China is Currently a Bigger Challenge Than Russia

President Biden has just staked the claim that China is currently a bigger threat to the United States than Russia is. To come to this conclusion, the Biden Administration has sat down and compared the threats posed by both Beijing and Moscow.

Security advisor Jake Sullivan says Russia is still a dangerous threat, and the US will be keeping an eye on them. In the national security strategy meeting on Wednesday, the document reveals some of the discussion about the situation. “The [People’s Republic of China] and Russia are increasingly aligned with each other but the challenges they pose are, in important ways, distinct,” the document says. “We will prioritize maintaining an enduring competitive edge over the PRC while constraining a still profoundly dangerous Russia.” They have decided that China ultimately has more power than Russia to alter how countries operate globally.
