$1 Billion Awarded to Sandy Hook Families
The families of the 2012 Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting victims have been awarded a $1 billion verdict. The Newtown, Connecticut shooting left the community without 20 first graders and 6 educators.
Infowars fabulist Alex Jones is the man responsible for paying this lump sum to the victims’ families. The largest award for the plaintiffs was to Robbie Parker who received $120 million. Parker’s daughter Emilie was one of the victims, and Parker faced a lot of negative and threatening comments for making a tribute to his daughter after her death.
Mr. Jones is required to pay these cashouts due to his overexposure of false claims on his Infowars show. He was making claims that the shooting never happened and that the scheme was a government hoax to incite stricter gun laws.
