Rail Union Rejects Deal
A union consisting of around 12,000 rail workers have just shot down a deal presented by the White House on Monday. The union was threatening a strike until they were compensated what they deserved for their work. The initial threat caused a nationwide panic that shipments wouldn’t be fulfilled.
Seven out of the eleven unions have sent the deal back and are waiting for a new deal to be written up before they vote on it. These eleven unions make up around 115,000 workers, and include the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers Trainmen (BLET), and the SMART Transportation Division. The White House is now forced to come up with a new deal to rightfully compensate rail workers who were never given a chance to rest.
