Settlement Reached in Alec Baldwin Case

On Wednesday, the producers of “Rust,” as well as actor Alec Baldwin, reached a settlement in the wrongful death case brought up last year. Cinematographer Halyna Hutchins was accidentally shot and killed on set of the filming of “Rust” by Alec Baldwin last year, and her family filed a lawsuit against Baldwin.

According to Reuters, “production on the film will resume in January with the late cinematographer’s husband, Matthew Hutchins, serving as executive producer.” Matthew Hutchins serving as executive producer was part of the lawsuit settlement. Matthew made a statement regarding the settlement, saying “I have no interest in engaging in recriminations or attribution of blame, all of us believe Halyna’s death was a terrible accident.” Although the lawsuit has been settled, Baldwin, as well as others on set, can possibly still face criminal charges.
