Aaron Judge Hits his 62nd Home Run
On Tuesday, Yankees slugger Aaron Judge hit his 62nd home run against the Texas Rangers. According to NBC News, Judge’s 62nd home run made him “baseball’s greatest single-season long-ball hitter — outside of MLB’s notorious steroid era.”
The game was game number 161 of the season, making it one of Judge’s last chances to hit the “record breaking homer.” Judge hit his 62nd in the first inning at the Globe Life Field. When Judge was asked what was going through his mind as he was breaking a record, he said “I was thinking of my wife, thinking of my family, my teammates, the fans. All of that was running, kind of running, through my head, just the constant support I’ve gotten through this whole process.” An outpour of congratulations came from fans all over, including President Joe Biden who tweeted, “Congrats @TheJudge44 on home run 62. History made, more history to make.”
