Trump Sues CNN

On Monday, former US President Donald Trump, sued CNN for defamation. According to NBC News, Trump filed the lawsuit in the U.S. District Court for Southern Florida, where he “alleged CNN has maliciously made false and defamatory statements about him.”

Trump is suing CNN for $475 million. He is reportedly “seeking money in punitive damages, as well as compensatory damages to be determined at trial.” Trump believes the network is guilty for “persistently trying to defeat him politically.” Earlier in July, Trump requesuested CNN to take down and “retract 34 articles and TV segments” that are defamatory to him, but they refused. CNN has yet to make any comments regarding the lawsuit, and told NBC that they “do no plan to.”
