Kanye West Wears “White Lives Matter T-shirt”

On Monday, Kanye West surprised everyone by wearing a “White Lives Matter” shirt to his Paris Fashion Week show. Fans saw the shirt with the quote “White Lives Matter” on the back of a black long sleeve during a live stream of the show, as well in a picture posted by Candace Owens, who wore the same shirt but in white.

According to Complex, many of the models for the YEEZY Season 9 runway show were seen wearing the shirt as well. The shirt and Kanye, have both received an enormous amount of backlash. The Rolling Stones reported that Twitter exploded with opinions on the slogan, many saying it represents “white supremecist groups such as the KKK and Aryan Renaissance Society.” Celebrities have also made comments on the shirt showing their disgust, such as Jayden Smith. Smith tweeted, “I Can’t Stand Behind What Kanye’s Saying, He Does Not Have The Full Support Of The Youth, I Don’t Care Who’s It Is If I Don’t Feel The Message I’m Out. Black Lives Matter.” The tweet was deleted later on Monday, but he was reported to have left the show early. Kanye has yet to make any comment.
