Gas Prices Rise for the First Time in 100 Days
After its nearly 3 month long downward slope, United States gas prices have flipped the switch and risen again. The one penny increase to $3.68 a gallon has marked the end of a 98 day streak, the longest seen since 2005. The last time gas prices rose was on June 14.
The decrease in gas prices started when the supply got larger and the demand got smaller. Even with this one penny increase, the average American is still paying 27% less than the record high price in June. Tom Kloza, global head of energy analysis for OPIS, said that he believes gas prices will remain around the same threshold for the remaining period.
