Kate Middleton Wears Queen Elizabeth’s Pearls to her Funeral
On Monday, the Princess of Wales, Kate Middleton, wore the late Queen Elizabeth’s pearls at her funeral proceedings. The princess was seen wearing two pieces of jewelry that previously belonged to the Queen.
According to People Magazine, Middleton was seen at Westminster Abbey wearing “Bahrain Pearl Drop Earrings and a four strand pearl choker with center diamond clasp, both from the Queen’s personal collection.” The Queen previously wore the necklace for “a state banquet in Bangladesh in 1983,” while the earrings were “a gift to the Queen for her wedding in 1947.” Many saw Middleton wearing the jewelry as a tribute to the Queen, paying her respects to her grandmother-in-law’s life. Middleton has reportedly been seen in the earrings three more times since Monday, where she wore them “to view tributes in Sandringham on Thursday, to greet Commonwealth troops on Friday and for a Buckingham Palace lunch reception on Saturday.”
