Biden Announces US Will Defend Taiwan if China Invades

In his most recent statement on the issue, President Joe Biden has said that the U.S. forces would step in and defend Taiwan in the event that China invades them. This angered the Chinese military, as they claim to have ownership of Taiwan, a self proclaimed independent country.

Previously, President Biden had not released clear explanations on his decision to aid Taiwan or not. Foreing policy between the United States and Taiwan has not changed. Chinese foreign ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning explained in a Beijing briefing that Biden’s comments sent a “seriously wrong signal” and that China was “strongly dissatisfied and resolutely opposed” to the U.S. stepping in and holding China from preventing the separation of Taiwan.
