Amtrak Cancellations Amid Potential Railway Strike

Starting Thursday, Amtrak announced that they will be canceling all long distance trips amid a potential railway strike. The railway strike may possibly occur due to unionized workers fighting against railroad companies.

According to CBS News, a Labor Department spokesperson said “dinner had been ordered and the talks in Washington among federal officials, railroad executives and railroad worker union leaders are ongoing.” It has been reported that the strike could possibly have a negative effect on the US economy, making it “lose a productivity of $2 billion a day.” If neither the railroad companies or unionized workers can come to an agreement, it is predicted that the strike will begin as soon as Friday.
