Mother of Children Who Drowned in Brooklyn Arrested and Charged
The mother of three children that drowned has just been arrested and charged for their deaths. The three children were found on the shoreline of Coney Island on Monday. 30 year old mother Erin Merdy has been charged with three counts of second degree murder, three counts of depraved indifference to human life, and three counts of murder with the victims under 11 years old.
The New York City Office of the Chief Medical Examiner said the children died early Monday morning, their deaths ruled a homicide. Police were called after Merdy told a relative “the babies are gone.” When she was questioned, Nerdy told police that she had been “dreaming of walking the kids in the water.” Merdy was taken into custody and awaits a psych evaluation. Her children were 7, 4, and 3 months old.
