Carlos Alcaraz Beats Casper Ruud in Record Breaking US Open Match
On Sunday, Carlos Alcaraz beat Casper Ruud in a record breaking US Open match. Alcaraz beat Ruud 6-4, 2-6, 7-6(1), 6-3 , winning him his first Grand Slam title at the age of 19.
According to Firstpost, Alcaraz became the “youngest man to win a major title since Rafael Nadal was the same age at the 2005 French Open, and the youngest at the US Open since 19-year-old Pete Sampras in 1990.” He also went on to breaking many other records, including and not limited to,” the youngest World No 1 since the computerized rankings began in 1973,” and was “the first man to save a match point en route to a US Open title since Stan Wawrinka in 2016.” Alcaraz also spent “23 hours and 39 minutes on court,” which is more time spent than any other player in major history.
