Jackson, Mississippi Declares Water Emergency

On Monday night, Mississippi Gov. Tate Reeves, declared a state of emergency for the city of Jackson. Earlier on Monday, Jackson’s main water treatment facility failed, leaving residents with no safe drinking water for the future.

According to CNBC, Gov. Reeves told residents not to drink water, and that there is not enough water to “flush toilets or fight fires.” Residents were told to use water sparingly, and to “protect yourselves and your families.” Flooding is what reportedly caused the problem, and the lack of safe water is expected to last for the next couple of days.
