South Carolina Women’s Basketball Cancels Series with BYU

University of South Carolina Women’s Basketball coach Dawn Staley has canceled the next two series of games that were set to be played against Brigham Young University for the next two years. This comes after a Duke basketball player allegedly faced blatant racism while playing a series at BYU, along with some of her other black teammates.

Rachel Richardson, the player claiming racism, has spoken out about how the BYU staff didn’t interfere fast enough to stop the slurs from hitting her the entire match. BYU issued an apology after the game and said that they banned a fan, but there is now an ongoing investigation on the incident. Staley has made the decision as head coach to withdraw from these home-and-home series for her players and their safety.
