Mikhail Gorbachev Dies at 91

Former Soviet Union leader Mikhail Gorbachev has died at the age of 91. According to CNN, Gorbachev “introduced key political and economic reforms to the USSR and helped to end the Cold War that had been in failing health for some time.” He led the Soviet Union from 1985 to 1991.

According to a statement made by RIA Novosti on Tuesday, Gorbachev “died this evening after a severe and prolonged illness.” Vladamir Putin has expressed his condolences to Gorbachev’s family, along with President Joe Biden.
