Serena Williams Plays in her Final Grand Slam

Earlier this month, Serena Williams announced that she will be playing in her final US Open. According to CNN, Serena Williams will be closing out her career in tennis where she won her first grand slam in 1999.

In the announcement she made in early August, Serena Williams said she was going to be “evolving from tennis,” expressing that she hates the word “retire.” Serena on Monday reportedly won her “first-round single” match, and is set to play her doubles match with her sister Venus. Serena has won 23 grand slams, and plans on finalizing her career with 24.
