Over 1100 People Killed in Pakistan Floods

In Pakistan, death toll rates have been climbing as rain and floods have continued to rip through the country. According to Reuters, a third of the country is “submerged, and more than 1100 people, 380 of them being children, have died.”

On Thursday, it was reported that the United Nations “appealed for aid,” flying helicopters to rescue families and drop down food supplies. Businesses, homes, crops, and more have been destroyed by the extreme monsoon conditions, and over 33 million people have been negatively affected. U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said in a video statement that “The Pakistani people are facing a monsoon on steroids,” and hope they can make it through with the help from the U.N.
