Navy Deploys Warships in Taiwan

The United States Navy has just released warships in the Taiwan Strait early Sunday morning. This is the first time the Navy has done this since tensions rose after House Speaker Nancy Pelosi visited Taiwan.

The Navy’s 7th Fleet has disclosed that the ships that took the 12 hour journey through the strait are the USS Antietam and USS Chancellorsville. The Fleet released a statement that the ships’ passage through the strait was a sign to China that the United States will not back down on their quest for a free and open Indo-Pacific.

Chinese Col. Shi Yi said the country was keeping a very close eye on the ships and “are on high alert and ready to foil any provocation at any time.”
