Uvalde School Board Fires Police Chief

On Wednesday, the Uvalde school board agreed to fire Police Chief Pete Arredondo. Arredondo is under fire for his lack of reaction and response during the deadly shooting at Robb Elementary School on May 24th.

According to the Texas Tribune, Arredondo’s attorney, George E. Hyde, made a statement asking for reinstatement and backpay on behalf of Arredond. Shortly after, the vote came in to fire him. It was reported that around 100 people showed up to the school board meeting in protest, while Arredondo chose not to attend.
