Regal Cinemas’ Owner Considering Filing for Bankruptcy

On Monday, Cineworld, the owner of Regal Cinemas, announced that they are considering filing for bankruptcy. According to Fox News, Cineworld will be filing for “Chapter 11 bankruptcy in the U.S.”

Over the past year, Cineworld reportedly said to the Wall Street Journal that “recent admission levels are below expectations despite a gradual recovery in demand since reopening its theaters in April 2021.” Low admission levels are predicted to continue into the end of 2022, but cinemas will continue normal operations following the filing.
