Opening Statements in Second R. Kelly Federal Trial Begin
The opening statements of singer R. Kelly’s second trial have just begun in Chicago, and it’s already not looking good for the singer. R. Kelly is being charged with child pornography in this trial, after multiple allegations that he was having and recording sex with children in the 1990s and early 2000s.
Opening statements from prosecution included a video of R. Kelly in his prime, 31 years old and a widely known and celebrated star. What the world didn’t know was that at the same time he was consistently sexually assaulting his god daughter for two years.
Assistant US Attorney Jason Julien then reminded the jury that R. Kelly was on trial for having sex with multiple children, and recording him doing it. Kelly’s attorney is working hard to ensure the jury considers the side that R. Kelly may have also been a victim in these times.
