Former Trump Organization CFO Pleads Guilty to Tax Charges

Former President Donald Trump’s organization official Allen Weisselberg is expected to plead guilty to charges of tax fraud. If found guilty, Weisselberg will serve 5 months in prison, a short sentence for a tax avoidance scheme that allegedly went on for 15 years.

Weisselberg is expected to take the plea deal, meaning he will testify against the Trump Organization. In his cooperation with the Trump Organization, they allegedly ran an “off the books” scheme that helped the organization avoid paying taxes. Weisselberg has also allegedly avoided paying taxes on $1.7 million in income.

Weisselberg surrendered himself in June 2021 after his indictment, and his trial is set for October. Weisselberg attempted to get the case dismissed as a last ditch attempt, but it was denied.
