Big Ten Reportedly Closing on $1 Billion in TV Deals

It has recently been announced that the college sports conference Big Ten, is reportedly working on closing a $1 billion deal with two networks. With this, the Big Ten will be ending the relationship they have had since 1982 with ESPN.

According to the Chicago Tribune, “Big Ten was looking for a seven-year deal worth $380 million per year to broadcast its football and basketball games from ESPN, and the network declined.” In a statement on Tuesday, the Big Ten said they were working on a deal worth $1 billion with other networks, and will be announcing its plans soon. Big Ten’s deal with ESPN and partner FOX, is set to end in 2023.
